Mission Statement

The primary mission of the USU Inclusion Center is to implement effective programming that supports the academic, cultural, and social experiences of students from diverse backgrounds. We also provide leadership for positive change that creates a campus and community environment that respects and embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.

A Message from the USU Inclusion Center

The Inclusion Center reaffirms the principle of inclusion as described in USU Policy 305: “Utah State University is committed to providing an environment free from harassment and other forms of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age (40 and older), disability, or status as a protected veteran. Consistent with its prohibition against sex discrimination, Utah State University prohibits and is committed to addressing and preventing sexual violence.”

What is a bias incident?

A bias incident is conduct that discriminates, stereotypes, excludes, harasses, embarrasses, demeans, or harms an individual or group based on their identity such as race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, or religion, or perceived identity. Even when an incident of bias does not violate USU’s non-discrimination policy, it can still have a negative effect on the person who has experienced it and on our community as a whole.
